Ironbaby

So, I know it's been FOREVER since I've posted, and I'm sorry about that.

But, I'm back, and as long as V keeps napping, I'll try to get a few posts scheduled as well.

So, back to the Ironman stories...

The day of the race, John's alarm went off at some ridiculously early time like 4:30am (which is 3:30am our time). Well, not too long after that while he was getting ready, V woke up. We ate some breakfast at the hotel, and then walked down to the swim start.

It's early, but I'll try to smile for you!

Here are her and Trent at the bike transition, waiting for their daddies to get done swimming and head off on the bike!

Now you'd think, okay, they'll be biking for 6ish hours so we can relax for a bit. But there was a place on the course you could drive to and see them come by, so off we went!

She took a nap in the car for the 20 minute drive there, woke up and ate a snack while we watched the riders, then took another nap on the way back to go get some lunch!

We ate at Joe's Crab Shack for lunch, and V liked most of the food!

Oh num num...

And Trent fell asleep at the table!

Ironmans are rough for little ones!

So after lunch we went back to the transition area to wait for John to head out on his run.

At this point in time, both Violet and Trent were about sick of their strollers and wanted to run around.

Here, Trent stole our sign for John and Violet was letting me know about it!

After we saw the guys, we let the kiddos run around in the courtyard-ish area for a while.

Freedom!

Check out V's supportive shirt for her daddy!

V thought she was such a big girl because she could sit on this little step and climb up and down it!

We went back to the hotel and let them sleep for a little bit before heading off to the finish line to watch for everyone.

On the way, I had to be a typical tourist and take a picture of my child on one of the Louisville horses. And Violet had to be a typical child and hate it!

Sometime at the finish line, Violet fell asleep with Grandma S holding her. It was a really long day! Unfortunately, my camera was about to die and I was saving the batteries to get John's finishing pictures, so I don't have any more pics of her. But check out my other blog for all the race pics! I'll start working on that post right now!

Seriously?!!!

So, here's the scenario:

We're in Louisville, for John's Ironman race, and since she and I flew there (benefits of the spoose (rhymes with moose, and yes, I just did a set of parentheses inside a set of parentheses) working for AA), we only brought the umbrella stroller (which happens to be obnoxiously pink!) instead of the Ironman jogging stroller.

It's Friday, we head down to the river so the gang can do a practice swim in the Ohio River. (I'll be doing more race posts (soon) on my other blog, I'll try to keep this one mainly about V.)

Ahh! Double parentheses again! What's happened to my grammar?! Moving on...

So, here she is having some fun in her stroller (see, pink!) while they swim.

"Oh, this is soooo much fun!"

"Alright, I'm ready to get out and run around!"

So, after their swim we go back to the hotel. We're in the elevator, and there's another lady in there with us. She makes a comment along the lines of, "What a cute little boy, is that a boy?" and I say, "No, she's a girl" and she responds, and I quote, "Oh, I see the pink shirt now."

Seriously?!!!

You missed the obnoxiously pink stroller?!!! I mean, it's not like that's gender neutral or anything!

I was going to pretend she was colorblind or something, but she blew that excuse right out the window!

And, let's just talk this out real quick...even if I did have an older daughter who the stroller was originally purchased for, what kind of mom makes her son sit in a bright pink stroller?! Especially an umbrella stroller! It's not like those cost very much!

People these days...sometimes, you just gotta wonder.

Good Morning!

I'm back (well, hopefully...I have to start posting at a different time so it's taking some adjusting)!!!

So, in Violet's new daycare class, we have to feed her breakfast before we drop her off. This means we had to change hers (and mine) schedules to get up earlier (boo!).

Anyway, one morning, she was looking particularly tired while eating her waffle, so I couldn't resist the photo op.

There she is, drinking her milk from her sippy cup like a big girl with all her waffle bites.

Seriously, look at that hair! What a mess!

Don't you wish you were greeted by such a cutie-pie every morning?!

Of course, now that she's been in her class for two months, her schedule is adjusted and she pretty much keeps it on the weekends. That means she wakes up about 6:30...so much for sleeping in!
