I'm Thirsty, Mom!

Date: 11/1/09

So, this particular day, I was busy doing stuff in the kitchen (it's been too long to remember exactly what I was doing...probably cleaning). So, Violet goes over to the pantry and is working hard at getting something out. Obviously, that peaked my interest, so I stopped and watched her. Much to my surprise, she had gotten a can of Diet Pepsi out of the 12-pack! She walks over to the middle of the kitchen and sits down. In anticipation of something hilarious, I had the camera ready, and it was a good thing!

She sits down, and puts the can up to her mouth.

She then puts it down...

And goes "ahhhhhhh"!

Seriously, my child cracks me up! I guess she's seen me and John drinking pop and wanted to get in on the action!

If only I would have opened the can for her...still a little young for that!

Happy Halloween!

Date: 10/31/09 - Happy Halloween (you know, only 40 days late!)

So, as I told you in a previous post, Violet was a sugar plum fairy for Halloween. We started off the day by going to watch John do the Tulsa Run (15K). For that, she wore her skeleton pajamas.

That evening, we went over to a friend's house for a small party. Violet had to wear a long sleeve shirt and some tights under her costume because it was cold outside!

Here she is, playing with a toy Trent (the dinosaur in the background) brought over.

And here she is looking at Trent like "what's your problem, you have a truck, you don't need two!". He was already upset because Bridgett had just tried to put his "hat" on, and he didn't like that at all!

"Hey mom, I took out my bow. I'm still a cute fairy without it!"

And here is a rare picture of me and Violet. I had sprayed pink hair stuff in my hair and worn my fake eyelashes, just to be in the Halloween spirit even though I didn't dress up!

We actually went trick-or-treating to maybe 10 houses or so. Violet didn't like having to get the candy from the strangers, but she definitely liked the candy! Her favorites were M&M Mini's and Smarties. The Reese's Pieces went over pretty good too!

Mashed Potatoes!

Date: 10/28/09

So, on this particular day, I had made some chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner. Violet got a chicken breast cut up in chunks (that child eats a lot of chicken, because John & I eat a lot of chicken!). But then I decided that she might really like some mashed potatoes, because she gobbled up her chicken and was still hungry. So I put some potatoes and gravy in her Boon bowl (that sticks to her highchair so she can't dump it out - awesome!) and gave her a spoon.

Not too long after that, she got frustrated because she's still learning how to use a spoon. So, she stuck her hand in the bowl and tried to get them that way. So naturally, I grab the camera and document the discovery!

"Whoa, these feel really funny!"

Next thing I know, both hands are in the bowl and she mashing them between her fingers like it's an art project or something!

She did manage to eat some of them, after she got over the new sensation.

"Oh nom nom!"

Needless to say, it was definitely bath time once she was done playing/eating!

Fruit Bars

Date: 10/23/09

I buy Violet these Gerber fruit bars (they're supposed to be healthier than regular like, fruit by the foot type thingies). Anyways, I used to tear them into pieces and just give her the bites. This particular day, I decided to give her the whole bar.

Such a big girl!

Look at that look she's giving me...such ornery-ness in those eyes!

If you look at this picture really big, you can see her big blue eyes...she has the prettiest color eyes I think ever. Of course, I'm a tad bit partial, but I just love those eyes!

Fitting Session

Date: 10/22/09

For Halloween, we borrowed Violet's cousin Kate's costume from last year...a sugar plum fairy costume.

I let Violet try it on to make sure it fit, and she loved it!

"Mommy, this is the best costume ever!"

"I can rock it with a mohawk...yeah baby!"

"Hey daddy, I know you're in the shower but aren't I just sooooo cute?!"

So yeah, she loves to go into the bathroom and talk to John while he takes a shower. She probably gets that from Saturday mornings when John's doing a workout and I make her play in the bathroom so I can take a shower! Hehehe.

Anyway, the costume fit so we were all ready for Halloween!

Bath Time Boogie

Date: 10/20/09

So, Violet LOVES bath time. No joke, she loves it. She would sit in the bath tub for hours, I'm sure, if I'd let her. She just plays with her toys and splashes and has a grand old time. Well, except for the minute of torture while I wash her hair.

Normally, when I tell her it's time to get out and then drain the tub and go to pick her up, she's not too happy. That is, until I put her hooded towel on her! Then she runs around with her towel on her head and flowing behind her like it's a cape!

"Hi mom! I love running around without any clothes!"

Yeah, after that pic was taken, we most definitely went back to her room and put on a diaper before anything bad happened (we've had two post-bath accidents recently). Then it was back to running around without any clothes on!

Another new thing she's learned is how to climb onto the ottoman.

Here she is showing off her accomplishment.

"Mom, look how big I am! I got up here all by myself!"

"Cheese!"

So yeah, now she loves climbing onto the ottoman every chance she gets and she thinks it's really funny to stand up and watch me try to get over to her to make her sit down...she waits until I'm almost there and then sits. Fun game, I'm sure, just not so much for me! =)

Picture Day

Date: 10/19/09
Location: Our living room

Today (not really today, but the date mentioned above) was picture day at Violet's "school" (daycare). The pictures were being done in antique style, and they were providing outfits and props and all that jazz, so I just had to doll Violet up all cute from the head up.

So, I decided to go with pink, and I happen to think that the following picture is just adorable.

Seriously, it's one of my favorites. I love that I can put bows in front of her ponytails now! I did send two other colored bows in case pink didn't match her antique background.

"Uh, mom, aren't we supposed to be leaving for school about now?"

"Oh, you want me to practice my cheeser smile...okay!"

Hehehe...what a ham!

The pics came back totally cute, and we definitely ordered us one of the prints!

Oh, and check me out...5 posts in 6 days! Score!

Wallet Thief

Date: 9/27/09
Location: Our living room

So, we usually leave all our stuff (purses, wallets, keys, etc) on the counters, and seeing as we have a toddler, that seems like a safe place for now. However, this particular day, John left his wallet in her reach. I walk into the living room and this is what I see:

That's right, she's taking stuff out of his wallet!

Let's go in for a closer look:

Obviously she is too little to know that his USAT card isn't going to get her anywhere...what she really wants is the blue credit card! =)

"Uh-oh, I've been spotted!"

"Maybe if I give her my cheeser smile, she'll let me keep playing..."

Unfortunately, the cheeser smile was just not enough to keep me from taking away the wallet. We don't want daddy driving without his license or going to get some gasoline to find out he has no credit card!

Enjoying Fall Weather

Date: 9/26/09
Location: Our backyard

So, we finally had a few days without any rain, and decided to enjoy it by spending some time in our backyard. Here's Violet just sitting in the grass looking at her swing, I believe. Funny to think that when she was a few months old, she'd cry when we sat her in the grass because she hated the feel of it!

Seriously, I love the blue color of her eyes. Totally jealous.

And here she is trying to "get" Smokey. She just kept chasing him and every time she'd get close, he'd run away and she'd have to go chase him again!

And here she is in her swing (which we finally hung up!). I was messing with the camera settings to try to get a not blurry pic, I think I finally put it in sports mode!

After that pic was taken, I put down the camera and blew bubbles while John pushed her in the swing. Seriously, she loves bubbles and the way she says the word is just too cute!

Piggies!

So, Violet looks absolutely adorable with pigtails (and regular ponytails too, of course!).

Proof:

I mean, seriously...is that not just the cutest little girl ever?!

If you're still not convinced, here's another one:

"Hey mom, how cute are my piggies now that I'm covered in raviolis & peas & carrots?"

Definitely bath time and time to call in the clean-up crew!

Murphy is always ready to charge under the highchair looking for goodies!

PJ Play Time!

All these pics are still from quite a while ago...I'll get caught up some time!

Here she is playing with her princess car...she loves this thing! She sits on it forwards, backwards...she pushes it all around the house ramming it into walls, furniture, people...she hides things under the seat...and the music on it is going off all the time!

And here she is giving me a "cheeser" smile all ready for bed time. Seriously, when I get the camera out, she loves to come over and say cheese and have her picture taken. Such a ham!

Such a cutie pie!

Mommy's Headbands

So, Violet loves to wear my headbands. She likes hers too, but for some reason mine are just more fun. Any time I wear one, I can count on it getting stolen.
Proof:
Yep, there she is putting on my headband.
Mission accomplished!
Now she can read one of my favorite books as a kid...Lady LovelyLocks: Silkypup Saves the Day!

And then, she blows me a kiss as a thanks for my headband (we'll go with that...).
What a big girl!

Little Zombie...I Mean, Skeleton

Can you tell when my scheduled posts ran out?!! Ha, seriously, I'm working on a little more consistent schedule. Not there yet (obviously!).

So, a while back (I can't remember how long ago or I'd put a date...it was right after I learned I needed glasses...maybe around Sept. 20th) I went to the Gap outlet in Bartlesville. And I bought Violet the cutest pajamas!

See for yourself...

Isn't that too cute?!
Oh, and about the title, I keep calling these her zombie pajamas and then John has to remind me that they're skeleton pjs! Oops!
And no, these are not her Halloween costume (wouldn't want a spoiler on here!) but she will be wearing them to daycare the day before Halloween.

Cutest Skirt EVER!

So, around September 13th (the date I took these pics), we went clothes shopping for Violet. Well, we were at Target and John found the cutest skirt ever for her. Seriously, this skirt is awesome. So of course, we went home and I washed all the new clothes and then I had to put the skirt on here and take some pictures.

We didn't quite have any shirts that went perfect with it, but since these pics were taken, we've bought a few more things and now it's the cutest outfit ever. I even bought black leggings she can wear under it this fall!

So, I call this picture a Catholic schoolgirl who doesn't want to go to school.

And here, she's home from a long day and has untucked her shirt and is just chilling (and closing doors, a newfound hobby).

Here she is, sitting on my lap (which she loves to do!) and I was holding the camera out trying to get a picture of it. It took like, 10 tries but we finally got a cute one!

So, we can't wait to dress her up like a punk rocker (complete with a mohawk) with this skirt! I just love it!

Anyone Out There?

This is my 50th post! Woot-woot!

Moving on...

A few weeks back (notice this is how most of my posts are starting...I'm pretty far behind!) Violet discovered how to see out of the blinds on our doors and windows.

"Anyone out there? Oh, the doggies are! Hi doggies!"

Not sure why she doesn't have on any pants...this was about a month ago, and my memory isn't quite that good anymore!

Faux-hawk!

So, a few weeks back, I decided I needed to start putting ponytails in Violet's hair for a couple of reasons:
1. To get her used to having her hair in ponytails so she doesn't resist it when she's older
2. Her hair is starting to grow and it gets in her face
3. It's cute!

So one night when I was getting her ready for bed, I took out her ponytail. It turns out she has my hair type (you know, the kind you put up for 5 minutes and it leaves a crinkle in your hair!).

How do I know this, you ask?

The faux-hawk kinda gave it away.

She looks like a little who from Whoville!

I love it!

My bunny and my Minnie

So, ever since Violet was born pretty much, I've had a few stuffed animals in her bed with her. A while back, she decided to "attach" to 2 of them, her prayer bunny (from my parents) and her Minnie Mouse, which John bought for her while I was pregnant and he was in Orlando for work.

So now, every morning when we go in to get her, she looks around her crib, grabs one, hands it to me/John and then grabs the other one and is ready to be picked up. Once we pick her up, she just hugs them and lays her head down (it's usually at 6:20am!) and snuggles. After she wakes up and we get her dressed, she usually leaves them on the floor in her room. So every night when I lay her down I have to make sure to put them back in her crib with her! And if she's not fully asleep, sometimes she'll pull them in close to her. Too cute!

Here's a picture of her with her animals and her Grandma S (John's mom).

She loves her bunny & Minnie so much!

Ironbaby

So, I know it's been FOREVER since I've posted, and I'm sorry about that.

But, I'm back, and as long as V keeps napping, I'll try to get a few posts scheduled as well.

So, back to the Ironman stories...

The day of the race, John's alarm went off at some ridiculously early time like 4:30am (which is 3:30am our time). Well, not too long after that while he was getting ready, V woke up. We ate some breakfast at the hotel, and then walked down to the swim start.

It's early, but I'll try to smile for you!

Here are her and Trent at the bike transition, waiting for their daddies to get done swimming and head off on the bike!

Now you'd think, okay, they'll be biking for 6ish hours so we can relax for a bit. But there was a place on the course you could drive to and see them come by, so off we went!

She took a nap in the car for the 20 minute drive there, woke up and ate a snack while we watched the riders, then took another nap on the way back to go get some lunch!

We ate at Joe's Crab Shack for lunch, and V liked most of the food!

Oh num num...

And Trent fell asleep at the table!

Ironmans are rough for little ones!

So after lunch we went back to the transition area to wait for John to head out on his run.

At this point in time, both Violet and Trent were about sick of their strollers and wanted to run around.

Here, Trent stole our sign for John and Violet was letting me know about it!

After we saw the guys, we let the kiddos run around in the courtyard-ish area for a while.

Freedom!

Check out V's supportive shirt for her daddy!

V thought she was such a big girl because she could sit on this little step and climb up and down it!

We went back to the hotel and let them sleep for a little bit before heading off to the finish line to watch for everyone.

On the way, I had to be a typical tourist and take a picture of my child on one of the Louisville horses. And Violet had to be a typical child and hate it!

Sometime at the finish line, Violet fell asleep with Grandma S holding her. It was a really long day! Unfortunately, my camera was about to die and I was saving the batteries to get John's finishing pictures, so I don't have any more pics of her. But check out my other blog for all the race pics! I'll start working on that post right now!
